Strength in Letting Go

There is a saying… “Hold on for dear life!” While it may be a good mantra, I think a better one is “There is strength in letting go”, which is part of the Starting Over collection.

If someone is intent on getting away from you, why are you holding on? To convince that person they’re wrong… then spend the rest of your time together continually second guessing the decision. Who wants to live life walking on eggshells?

Or, are you holding on to something that you should be letting go? Maybe it’s a grudge… maybe it’s a person who’s toxic, but you love them… or maybe it’s a job that you have built your life around. You’re petrified that if you let go, there will be nothing left… you’ll be alone… you will be lost… you’ll be labeled a failure.

I say, get over yourself. Stop wallowing in the doubt and embrace the wonderful future that will be when you stop spending all of your time, attention, and emotion on the past… or what is not the right fit. Letting go can be the scariest thing in the world… and it might be dreadful and painful right after you loosen your grip, but, you can only grab a hold of the new once you let go of the old. I promise you that there is sunshine on the other side.
